Zwiefach 05/2025

My new article on Bavaria-Rap is out in “Zwiefach”. This magazine is one of the most important print media for the bavarian traditional music community. I am glad to have been asked to show ties betweeen the bavarian satirical quartrain tradition of Gstanzl and dialect rap. Starting with parodies in the 1980s, dialect rap scene has grown into a fully fledged scene. Doppel D paved the way in the 2000s for artists such as BBou, Liquid, Maniac, and Dicht & Ergreifend. Their music blends sharp social critique, humor, and local identity with beats ranging from classic boom bap to modern trap.
